An intimate, curated experience for ambitious mothers for connection, inspiration and power.

Book My Place

The Second Room is an intimate, curated space for women who want more than just motherhood.

It’s for the women who want to build their big lives – career, motherhood and all – and want to do it alongside an inner circle of women who elevate one another.

A place where you know the other women want this too.

Where you'll inspire and support one another in reaching for the big goals whilst navigating motherhood and everything this wild ride brings.

It’s called The Second Room because it's a space where the conversations are deep, honest and powerful.

The room where the real conversations happen and where the mothers leading at work are able to speak freely with other women who get it too.

Motherhood often takes up the “first room” in your visible identity; it's often the only part of you that people see when you become a mum.

The Second Room is where you can reclaim the parts of yourself that might have been pushed aside - ambition, desire, creativity and leadership.

It’s not another networking event or workshop.

It’s an intimate gathering of powerhouses who are ready for more in a space that’s luxe, elegant and intimate.

The online world has its place and has kept us connected but physically being in the room with other women lands differently.

The connections are deeper and something shifts in us when we’re with other women who are aligned with who we want to be and where we want to go in life.

Spaces are limited to 12 to keep it intimate and exclusive.

Your host - Samantha Murrell

I created the Second Room, because I couldn’t find the spaces I needed as an ambitious mother.

I craved a place and people that understood what it was really like to be a mother and still want a big career. I felt like I was straddling two worlds between the baby groups, where I felt too ambitious, and my professional world where I felt like I had to pretend I wasn’t a mother.

I spent 20 years in a corporate career in real estate negotiating multi-million pound deals. I thought motherhood would be something I’d figure out in a few months then crack on just with the addition of a child…how wrong I was! Motherhood turned me inside out and upside down and I felt like I was failing at everything.

Fast forward to learning about matrescence, the monumental identity shift that is motherhood and getting the proper support I needed, I then trained as a motherhood coach.

I felt floored by motherhood, didn’t recognise myself and thought my career was over. But what I didn’t know was that it would be the catalyst to realising that I was living my life by someone else’s definition of success.

Now I a leading a mission to change the narratives around motherhood, ambition and career and I support mothers in leadership to thrive in their careers and at home.

Get in the room

A room where we redefine what motherhood and career look like for you in a space filled with inspiration, elevation and genuine support.

A place that encourages deeper, meaningful conversations, and connection.

Space for reflection led by Samantha which offers a guided, thoughtful pause to examine the beliefs and mindsets that influence how much we give, hold, and carry. Together, we explore the often unseen expectations, roles, and internal narratives that shape how we show up in our work and leadership, particularly the tendency to take on more, stay longer, and carry responsibility quietly.

This reflection, conversation and gentle challenge invites greater awareness of what is being held by habit rather than choice, creating room for more expansive leadership, clearer boundaries, and a deeper sense of ease.

What to Expect

·      A boring, dry business networking event

·      A women in leadership event that’s trying to fix you and mould you into a cookie cutter version of leadership

·      Competition and mean girl energy – it’s a no entry for this type of behaviour

·      A space where you have to perform, impress, or pretend you’ve “got it all together.”

·      Another room where motherhood is minimised, dismissed, or treated as an inconvenience.

·      A generic panel or corporate workshop squeezed into your already-full diary.

·      A loud, overcrowded room with no intimacy, no depth and no intention.

What it’s NOT

Who is it for?

Ambitious mothers who want to lead at work and at home. Women who don’t accept motherhood, womanhood or anything else as a reason for not going after big dreams and goals. Who want to redefine motherhood and work on their own terms and want a tribe of women who are walking alongside them forging their own way ahead. The women who are passionate about wanting more and going after it.
